Watch it.
Then read this.
Sean Lew did the thing. HE CAME THROUUUUGGGHHHHH!
He wrote, directed, choreographed, produced and edited this.
And he’s 19.
Coz I don’t feel inadequate at all.
Anyways. Moving on.
When I tell you, I have been WAITING FOR THIS FOR YEARS.
Not this video in particular. Well yes this video in particular as soon as I found out when it was being released, but what I mean is I have been waiting for Sean Lew to be able to show on a massive scale what he can do.
For those of you who don’t spend your days watching much younger and more talented individuals take their field by storm and pave their own path to absolute greatness, let me introduce you to this guy:
This is Sean Lew.
He is many things but what this review shall focus on is his natural born gift of creative talent.
Sean was a dancer and choreographer with his work going on viral and being featured on TV before he was even 17.
Here is some of his older work, just to give you more of an idea of what an absolute beast this kid is.
So here is the thing.
I really don’t think you don’t have to be a dancer to enjoy or understand this.
Because when dance is a universal language. You don’t have to know what a pirouette is or the correct technique for a leap to feel what someone is portraying in their body.
And with a concept film like this, where there is almost no dialogue spoken by your main performers, everything adds to what you as a viewer feel. The music, the costumes, lighting, staging, set, camera angles, everything.
And just remember that dance, like all art, is open to interpretation.
A hundred different people could watch this and come away with a hundred different meanings and messages.
And another hundred people could watch it and come away with no meaning at all, just knowing that they liked what they saw and it made them feel some type of way.
Maybe it’s just because I have been such a fan of Sean (and his best friend Kaycee who co stars in Two) for such a longs time, but this made me really emotional.
As some of you know I tend to be a little unsure on the existence of the almighty, but I have no doubt when I say that Sean has a God given talent.
Not only is his skill as a dancer and choreographer in my opinion, unmatched, but you could just tell he put his heart and soul into this and I think that brought out the best in everyone involved. I had seen almost all of the dancers in this film before and maybe it’s just me but I thought this was the best I had seen some of them perform.
There are not enough words to describe how much I love this.
Sean Lew, I salute you sir.
